Skills USA Goes to Dell
Several Skills USA students in the Information Technology program took a trip to the Dell Computer call center in Nashville just before spring break. They got to see the latest and greatest equipment that Dell has to offer on the sales side of the call center as well as various assistance and training tools on the technical support side of the call center. They were shown various amenities that the center has to offer. These included a cafeteria with a wide variety of choices, on on site bank for the employees, a fitness center, as well as a game room called "The Escape Pod" to help relieve stress during breaks and lunches. It was a great trip and we hope to continue this relationship will Dell so we can take a new group of students every year. The students that went this year included:

1st Annual eWaste Event a Success
The 1st Annual LCHS Skills USA eWaste Recycling event was a success. There were a total of 9 high school students, 1 middle school student, and one alumni that graduated two years ago, participating in the collection event. Approximately 4,000 pounds of electronic waste was collected in the five hour event. All the volunteers jumped right in and worked hard. Hopefully next year, we can increase the number of volunteers as well as the amount of eWaste we collect.
